Games are enjoyed by people of different ages. If a DERVALYN online service is likely to be accessed by children, we assess the privacy risks and design the service to use only the information reasonably needed for its features.
1. When this notice matters
This notice supplements our Privacy Policy for DERVALYN games, apps and online services that may be accessed by people under 18 in the United Kingdom. A specific game may provide additional information if it uses accounts, analytics, advertising, purchases, social features or other data-driven functionality.
2. Our design approach
Where the UK Children's Code applies, DERVALYN's approach is to:
- consider the best interests of children as a primary design factor;
- collect and retain only information reasonably needed for the service;
- use high-privacy defaults appropriate to the product and audience;
- avoid enabling precise geolocation for children by default;
- avoid behavioural advertising or profiling of known child users unless a lawful, age-appropriate design has been assessed and implemented;
- explain important privacy information in language appropriate to the intended audience; and
- provide routes for users and parents or guardians to ask questions and exercise applicable data rights.
3. Platform-specific audience rules
Some distribution platforms set stricter audience requirements than our general corporate website. For YouTube Playables, DERVALYN submissions are prepared for a general audience aged 13+ and are not submitted as “made for kids”. Each release is reviewed against the current rules of the platform through which it is distributed.
4. What the corporate website does
The public DERVALYN corporate website does not currently provide a public user-account system. Its own privacy preference storage is described in the Cookie Policy. Game builds and third-party distribution platforms can operate differently, so their product-specific information should also be checked.
5. Information a game may need
Depending on the title, a game may need limited settings, progress, device capability or diagnostic information to operate. Features such as cloud saves, leaderboards, multiplayer, account systems, advertising or in-app purchases can require additional data. DERVALYN should not activate such features for a child-accessible service without reviewing the data flow, lawful basis, default settings and appropriate transparency information.
6. Third-party platforms
If you play a DERVALYN title through TikTok, an app store, a game portal or another platform, that platform may process account, device, payment, advertising or usage data under its own privacy rules. DERVALYN cannot control an independent platform's settings, but we aim to minimise the data our own integration requests.
7. Parents, guardians and younger users
If you are a younger user, do not send us personal information that is not needed for your question. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to a DERVALYN-controlled service inappropriately, contact us and identify the relevant game or service so we can investigate.
8. Data rights and deletion
Children have data protection rights too. Requests can be made through our Privacy Choices page. If the request relates to an account created inside a particular game or platform, we may need the account identifier and service name to find the correct information. We will ask only for proportionate verification.
9. Contact
Privacy questions about a child-accessible game or product can be sent to privacy@dervalyn.com. Please include the game or service name, but do not send unnecessary sensitive information.
